This special wallpaper is inspired by a building constructed in the mid-19th century on the site of the notorious Marshalsea prison, known as the place where London's debtors were imprisoned, including Charles Dickens' father in 1824.

The design is based on the oldest recovered fragment of four layers of wallpaper pasted on top of each other. The Gothic lattice pattern with Moorish influences marked the first wallpaper that adorned the walls of this building, constructed in the late 1870s to replace the prison. The warm brown shade gives a timeless, elegant look and makes the wallpaper perfect for living rooms, studies, or atmospheric reception areas, where it adds a sense of luxury and history.
